Combat training was going well until.. "It's a strong signal source" says my wing. "Be prepared to run" There were a few words I should have listened to after that as well but the very loud sound of my breathing droned everything out. There were seven of them. Pirates. My wing barked a few commands at me and jumped to safety. The pirates opened fire. It wasn't pretty. It was very flashy and all, but not pretty. Laser beams and cannons from all sides hit me mercilessly and t'was but a few wimpering moments later that I and my ship exploded into white space. My beautiful and oh so newly loaded out Cobra MK111 was but smoke. I was going to head on out to EDF's new home base before I logged out for the night but I was weirdly too upset to continue on

It happens to us all (being destroyed I mean), props for going into a SSS with a Cobra (and yes you should of ran). Hope you have enough credits saved up for the insurance.

Uumm.... I've done that too MrE (well I crashed trying to go out of the station, hitting boost by mistake), however I did it twice in the same day, in my python...... at the time it wasn't a total A grade python, but still 8 million insurance each crash (yes a total of 16 million). That was a bad day

Yep... I wasn't trying to get out or into one... I just wanted to see how fast I could zip past the station.... I didn't see the huge support beam that was turning around to sideswipe me...

During my --after annihilation calm down chat with wing I hear how he lost his first ship and you two did exactly the same. Twice in one day though?!? Shock, you get 'the cake' ~ that's just HOLY. Our aim was to test wing, nav and beacon ops. Went in under full connection where we fully trusted that I would be yanked out along with expert level co-pilot --what I didn't do when I should have was retract my hard points. Panicked so much that I couldn't even remember to do that but at least it was a flashy ending and yes, fully insured. 'Haven't lost a ship yet' must now be removed from my list of accomplishments and for me, that was one of my proudest badges. I am handling it very well now though thanks to the in-coming shared stories Magic! If you are reading this thread and would like to share your first ship loss story, we would love to hear it!

My first ship loss was a Viper. I was winged up with a friend and we decided to pop into a High RES to make some credits. Bad idea. We popped into an instance that was more like a Combat Zone. We were holding our own fairly well at the time (at that point I had about 6 hours in game and my Viper was average) when the local police force decided to fly in between myself and my target. It happened so quickly I shot him, and of course now all the cops were mad at me. So 3 Vipers and an Anaconda were on my butt in no time flat. BLAMO! Good thing I had the rebuy. But at least it happened on day 2 of playing. I've only blown up once since then, against an enemy Commander. We both had Vultures, he just out flew me that night.
